Along with seasonal celebrations and festivals, Bethlehem, PA plays host to athletic events and competitions throughout the year. During October, the Runners World Half Marathon & Festival comes to town and features several races, seminars on running and health, live music and more. So, if you’re a running enthusiast looking for a challenging and fun race to participate in this fall, consider competing in one or more of the Runners World Half Marathon & Festival races. And if you’re already planning on racing, be sure to keep training!
This year’s series of races and events will take place on October 17th – 19th, right here in Bethlehem. The main draws are, of course, the half marathon and other races, but there are a number of other events that range from entertaining to educational. These events include seminars on training, health expos, and a pre-race pasta dinner. The editor’s of Runner’s World will be present at the pre-race dinner, which will feature a menu especially selected to give you the right fuel for the upcoming races. Check the Runners World Half Marathon & Festival schedule to see the details of what will be happening over the weekend.
The weekend will include the half marathon, a 5k, a 10k, and dog and children’s runs. There are multiple-race options as well, including the Hat Trick, which includes the 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon races. Or if you’re not quite up to that try the Five & Dime, which includes the 5k and 10k races. Each race will begin at the festival’s headquarters at the Bethlehem Steel Mill and ArtsQuest SteelStacks Campus. The courses go through the historic parts of Downtown Bethlehem and the surrounding neighborhoods, so you can get a good look at our charming town as you race. Points of interest you’ll pass on the course include the Steel Complex and the Moravian College as well as some of the town’s original settlements that date back to 1741.
In order to make sure you’re in the best shape possible to participate in the races at the Runner’s World Half Marathon & Festival, Runners World has several half marathon training plans to get you prepared. There are plans tailored to beginners, intermediate level runners, and experienced runners trying to achieve a certain finish time. There are also customizable plans, and ways to get coaching so you can hit your goals in the healthiest way possible for your individual needs.
