Fall is an Incredible Time to Travel to Pennsylvania
Fall is a particularly pleasant time of year to travel to Pennsylvania. Daily high temperatures in the Lehigh Valley ease from the eighties to the mid-seventies. The foliage transforms from a sea of green to a spectacular blend of reds, yellows, and oranges. What better way to spend those beautiful autumn days than enjoying some of the Lehigh Valley’s many activities?
Cycling
If you travel to Pennsylvania, the Lehigh Valley area offers a number of cycling trails perfect for fall. The five trails highlighted (Palmer Township Recreation Trail, Ironton Rail Trail, Monocacy Way, Lehigh Canal Towpath, and Covered Bridge Ride) offer cyclists a variety of landscapes, ranging from canopies of vibrant foliage, to rivers, and even to picturesque covered bridges. Get out and cycle the beautiful Lehigh Valley countryside!
Hiking
The Lehigh Valley area includes hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Hike a portion of the Appalachian trail in Berks County Park, less than an hour from downtown Bethlehem. The Pinnacle Trail — a 4-hour, 9 mile hike up Pulpit Rock – offers excellent views of Lehigh Valley. Seeking something more challenging? The Lehigh Gap Trail, also part of the Appalachian Trail, boasts 12.7 miles, and incorporates a bit of rock-climbing. It is recommended for experienced hikers only.

Festivals
Lehigh Valley’s fall calendar includes a wide variety of festivals celebrating the changing of the seasons. Visit the Grim’s Family Farm Fall Festival and enjoy hayrides, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, and more! Need a drink afterward? Head to Steel Stacks’ Oktoberfest for Oktoberfest with a Pennsylvania twist. Enjoy German beer and food, polka, and live music – and with no admission fee.
