Jazz lovers, mark your calendars! The Allentown Jazz Festival is a brand new live music festival that will be hosting a variety of events in venues throughout downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania. In addition to bringing world-class performers and artists to the area, the festival hopes to elevate the arts and culture landscape in Allentown and to preserve the history of one of America’s greatest art forms – jazz music! 2016 Allentown Jazz Festival Lineup
Al Chez & The Brothers of Funk
On April 29, 2016, guests can head to the Renaissance Ballroom in Allentown at 8 PM for the opening night of the festival and enjoy an evening of live music that they’ll never forget. Known for playing for over 25 years on Late Night and The Late Show with David Letterman, renowned trumpet player Al Chez and his band will deliver a high-energy performance that will make you want to move your feet! Al’s long list of accolades include performances at two presidential inaugurations, world tours, and over 25 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
Scott Tixier
Scott Tixier, an award-winning jazz violinist and recording artist, will make his Allentown Jazz Festival debut on May 1, 2016, at 7 PM. Scott has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Anthony Braxton, Josh Groban, and Wayne Brady, just to name a few!
Laurence Hobgood
Grammy-award winning producer, composer, and pianist Laurence Hobgood will be showcasing his talents to the Allentown crowd on May 3, 2016. Hobgood has performed at renowned institutions like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Sydney Opera House, and London’s Queen Elizabeth Halls, as well as the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals. Hobgood also appeared at the 2009 State Dinner given at the White House.
Lucy Woodward
This LA-based singer and songwriter will her make first area appearance at the Allentown Jazz Festival on May 5, 2016, at the Renaissance Ballroom. Lucy Woodward has been touring the world consistently for the last 15 years and will be releasing her newest album in summer 2016. She’s toured with Snarky Puppy, Pink Martini, and Rod Stewart, and is known for delivering an entertaining and memorable show.
