About the Lehigh Valley Zoo

The Lehigh Valley Zoo is located in the Trexler Nature Preserve, about 30 minutes from Sayre Mansion. The zoo has different hours of operation, depending on the season. From November 1 to March 31, the zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. From April 1 to October 31, the zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The winter season daytime admission is just $10 per person The in-season rates are $13 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $11 for children.

From exotic species from far away places to domestic animals you can see on the farm, the Lehigh Valley Zoo has a wide variety of species available to see. One of the most popular exhibits is the African Penguins at the Jaindl Penguin Pavilion. It allows visitors to get a glimpse of these playful birds.  There are even public feedings and zookeeper talks at the pavilion twice daily. You can take a peek at the penguins online as well, via the Penguin Cam.

Have an Interactive Experience at the Zoo

There are plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with some of the zoo’s most popular animals. Be sure to grab tickets for the Lehigh Valley Zoo giraffe feeding experience, just $4 for non-members!  You can see a full list of the interactive experiences on the zoo’s website. The website also gives you more information about the animals on display, from where they originate to their current population status.

Stay at Sayre Mansion

After a day of fun at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, return to Sayre Mansion for a restful night. If you’re traveling with a child, consider renting Room 32. This room offers sleeping space for three, with one queen and one twin bed. It also features a pair of comfy wingback chairs, cable TV, and a reading table. The private bath features a pedestal sink and shower.

If you need a room for four guests, book one of our carriage house suites! Suite One overlooks the beautiful Cathedral Church of the Nativity and offers an expansive view of South Bethlehem. Inside the suite, you’ll find a large living room with a pullout queen sofa bed. The bedroom offers a king bed. The spacious bathroom features a Whirlpool tub and a walk-in shower.
