This Christmas market in Bethlehem, PA, has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best in the region. Christkindlmarkt was twice recognized by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of the best holiday markets, and it’s no wonder why! Every year, the market welcomes more than 150 artisans and vendors from all over the nation. You can preview the merchants before your visit on the Christmas City website.
Visitors shop for their Christmas gifts, watch unique demonstration like glassblowing, and participate in the holiday-themed events. Check the Christkindlmarkt calendar to see if you can catch any of the film showings, like “White Christmas,” “The Thin Man” or “It’s a Wonderful Life.” For a more interactive experience, head to one of the holiday quote-a-longs with films like “Elf,”
Die Hard” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” On select days throughout the market, you can enjoy merry performances by local schools, bands, and carolers. Aside from the special movie screenings and events at Christkindlmarkt, there are other fun Christmas-themed things to do in Bethlehem. The SteelStacks Gingerbread House Competition is always fun to see. Head to the Visitor Center at SteelStacks and check out the creations!
Another great attraction is the Trees of Historic Bethlehem exhibit. The Bethlehem Garden Club has meticulously decorated trees located in four historic sites around town. Each of these stunning trees is paired with a piece of local artwork. You can see the trees at 1810 Goundie House, Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, and Single Sisters’ House.
