Lehigh Graduation: What You Need to Know

Lehigh GraduationCollege graduation is a momentous occasion that should be celebrated.  Here in Bethlehem, PA we’re something of a college town, so we can appreciate the sense of occasion that commencement deserves.  Each May Lehigh graduation is the big event that students and their families look forward to. Like any big event, there will be lots of joyous celebration and congratulations all around to graduates, but there are also logistical issues to be considered.  From parking to handicapped arrangements to accommodations at the Sayre Mansion and everything in between, here are some things you should know about Lehigh graduation.

About Lehigh University

Lehigh University is an integral part of life here in Bethlehem. This private research university dates back to 1865.  There are four colleges in the university: the PC Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, the College o Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Education. The degrees students obtain at Lehigh graduation include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering, Master of Education, and Doctor of Philosophy.

Lehigh Graduation Information

This year there will be three ceremonies to mark Lehigh graduation. On Sunday, May 17th, the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm at Baker hall at the Zoellner Arts Center. Then, at 4:00 pm on the 17th a Baccalaureate Service will be held at the Packer Memorial Church. Then, on Monday, May 18th the Commencement Ceremony takes place at 10:00 at Goodman Stadium.

It is recommended that guests arrive at least half an hour before the ceremony to make sure you have been seated before 10:00 am as the ceremony will begin promptly at that time. An indoor viewing site will also be open for those who prefer to be inside.  This location will be in the Stabler Arena.  Shuttles will be available from the arena to Goodman Stadium.

General parking is available on the Goodman Campus in the lots adjacent to Stabler Arena.  Parking attendants will be onsite to direct cars. Special parking for those with disabilities will be accommodated and shuttle service will run between the handicapped parking area to the stadium. There are a few different parking and seating options for the mobility-impared.

A Graduates’ Reception will be held immediately after the ceremony. This reception is open to all graduates and their guests. Each college will have its own tent, located on the south side of Goodman Stadium. For more information for friends and guest at Lehigh Graduation, click here.
