Visit the Lehigh University Art Galleries
Lehigh University Art Galleries is said to be a museum without walls. Rather than housing one gallery in one building, the LUAG maintains a world-class art collection that is housed in three of the university’s campuses. The museum’s mission is to “inspire, develop, and promote visual literacy and cultural understanding.” This is not just done in a classroom; the museum also features more traditional galleries and even a sculpture garden.
LUAG features around 20 exhibitions per year, presented in all of the several galleries on campus. Often, these exhibitions are in collaboration with other museums, universities, or artists. The museums also have an educational component to them, perfect for visitors looking to expand their knowledge of art.
Visit the Galleries
LUAG’s permanent collection dates back to 1865 and the first gallery facilities were opened in 1935. The most recent addition to the collection of galleries is the Zoellner Arts Center. The center features three theaters as well as a two-story art gallery and a recording studio. Other on-campus galleries include the DuBois Gallery (located in Maginnes Hall), Siegel Gallery (located in Iacocca Hall), the Rauch Business Center’s Gallery, and the Ralph Wilson Study Gallery and Open Storage Facility (located in Mountaintop Campus and only available to visit by appointment). The outdoor sculpture collection is spread through each of the campuses.
