Micro Weddings at The Sayre Mansion are Simply Grand

Even before social distancing became a part of our everyday life, the popularity of micro weddings was on the rise. The Sayre Mansion has been specializing in the concept for years. Micro weddings keep the guest list to 50 or under but spare none of the traditional details. Private and intimate by nature, it’s an option for couples who want to marry amid coronavirus restrictions or even those who may just be on a budget.

A New Bridal Wave

Micro weddings started to come in vogue with the trend toward a minimalist lifestyle. The notion of hosting an event with limited planning, limited budget and limited guests is appealing to more and more couples, especially during the global health crisis. The Intimate Wedding Package at The Sayre Mansion accommodates up to 20 people. Couples can reserve all 23 guest rooms and literally have the mansion to themselves for their event with everyone staying under one roof. “It begins to feel like it’s their mansion and it’s a far more memorable experience than having family and friends scattered at various hotels,” explains Sarah Trimmer, The Sayre Mansion General Manager. With fewer guests, couples may also be able to host the three-day wedding event they always imagined. Everyone is together to take part in the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception, after-party snacks and post-wedding brunch.

Landmark Events

The Sayre Mansion dates to 1858 and is one of the original grand homes in Bethlehem’s South Side. It’s a venue that exudes elegance and sets the tone for every event. The two-acre property features century-old trees and a sprawling lawn. It’s an ideal setting for photos and quiet moments. For the ceremony itself, the bride and groom can marry under an outdoor arbor, in the Asa Packer Meeting Room or in the Victorian parlor. Dinner is served in the formal dining room prepared by Karen Hunter, a premier caterer in the Lehigh Valley. The Intimate Wedding Package also includes hors d’oeuvres, a champagne toast and a four-hour bar. Plus, the newlyweds will enjoy an overnight stay in one of the mansion’s luxurious carriage house suites and a house made breakfast the next morning served in room.

Simply Elegant

Less coordination means micro weddings are less stressful. They also have the added benefit of being more personal. The inclusion of only immediate family and close friends means the bride and groom can spend real quality time with each guest. The streamlined event allows couples to invest in the details that are important to them- whether it’s a designer wedding gown or elaborate floral arrangements. There’s also an opportunity for customization that may not be practical when trying to accommodate 200 guests.

A New Beginning

If couples were forced to change their wedding plans due to the current health situation, a micro wedding is a happy alternative. The Knot refers to it as a minimony. It’s a way for people to honor their original wedding date with a commitment ceremony and make their union official. Then, the newlyweds can plan a larger celebration at a later date when conditions allow.
